Hey guys whats goin onnnnn,
I might be plannin to do a small system this weekend/next week. I have the alpine 9885 head unit. I wanna do the 12" alpine type r. Now i listen to mostly metal/hard rock, but have the rap mixed in there too. id say its split 60/40 rap to metal. I was thinkin the type r in a sealed box. Not sure what amp to use though.
Any comments, advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks
P.S. i am completely a noob at systems so sorry for dumb questions/comments in advance , lol

I have 1 type r 10, and it is great for both, really fast response and recoil time, dont miss any beats....
i have nothing but good things to say about alpine equipment, I have had them for almost 3 years now in 2 different cars and they are still great!
alot of people are blown away when they sit in my car because they think i have at least 2 12" inch subs, but its only 1 10" in a ported box running at max power....

Yo type r's are amazing, for the price you really can't beat them. I have the alpine cda 9884 headunit, one 12" type r running about 500 rms in a sealed box and they hit nice and clean. The system is only 1.5 week long so I can't tell you how good they are in the long run but I did a lot of research before I bought them and like you said nothing but good reviews.
I am running 2-12" type Rs with 2-MRP 450 monos. It sounds good. but I think a to each would sound even better.
But that would be risky, so i say go with one mono 450 and you will be good.
I love having each sub with its own amp, keeps everything cool and no overheating!!

With $650 I can do a lot with that....Like heading over to Db-r and picking up a refurb SAZ1500 for $360 shipped, a single 12" FI Q with BP power for $299 shipped. Thats now $610, build a box for $20, find some amp wiring kit over at CA.com for used and pay like $50... And you will be louder than you ever want to be.
