Default lots of electrical problems!

Ok, so earlier today I installed an SNES into my car, had it hooked up, it worked no problems. then i go out to my car later to go to my friends house..

well, the Brake light and ABS lights are on. The speedo isn't working, the headlights don't turn off when i open the door, the auto window up/down doesn't work, i can't even open the passenger window. wtf!??!

The only thing that went wrong installing the snes is i popped the Cig fuse. Replaced it with a 20 fuse (it was originally 15, my electricion buddy said it wouldn't really matter) but thats it, and now everythings going haywire!

sooo.. any ideas?

when u installed the snes did you disconect the neg terminal on your battery? If so then you need to reprogram your windows.

You need to go into more detail about how you installed your SNES into your car to be able to have anyone give you good info besides the windows.

you need to reset the windows..

read your owners manual.. and you'll find out that you'll need to first open and hold the close switch for a few seconds for each window at the door it corresponds to

I've been looking thru the owners manual, I didn't see it in there. no mention of electric windows or anything in the index, i'll find it eventually.

snes? pull out the fuse and blow on it... j/k

but seriously, you shouldn't replace a fuse w/ a higher amp fuse. it can cause fires! or damaging some more electrical components.

agreed with WAIter ego. NEVER uprate a fuse. you should just connect the SNES directly to battery with a voltage regulator. that way, it avoids drawing power through your car's electrical components.

Your licensed electrician friend needs to rethink. Where I went to school we were taught to follow wire ratings very closely, and if he is an electrician, as I was before going into electronics and college, an inspector would play patty cake on his **** if he saw him run 15A rated wire (14 gauge) in a house on a 20amp fuse. Fuses are rated based upon the wiring and connectors used to feed them. If it says 15, and you put in a 20, you risk damage or fire if something happens. It was designed that way for a reason. 5 more amps equates to approx 70 watts of extra power. Probably wont burn your car down, but I prefer not to go by probably Wire is not cheap, so if toyota used a 15A fuse, it is because they ran the smallest wire they could to handle 15A.

Straight to the battery with a fuse would be the correct answer... dont forget the fuse
