Default Loud POP from speakers when car is turned on and off

just like the title says, im having a loud POP from all my speakers that are connected to my 5 channel Infinity 5350A which is connected to a harness on the back of my factory radio

the harness just makes it possible to run RCAs from the deck to the amp

is there any way to eliminate this POP it sounds like it will blow up my speakers or amp

im thinking it has to do with the adapter harness

hmm that sounds weird, who did you have install it?

im pretty sure its the harness thing thats doing it, your best bet is to get a new headunit (not your only option) but with a new headunit you will be alot happier with how everything sounds.

i had that pop thing ur talking about.. i just took it back to who installed it so i dont know what they did to make it stop sorry im no help

ok, so don't listen to that advice. there is no reason that you should replace your headunit just because you have the pop....especially when your certain that it's just the harness.

which headunit do you have? i'm assuming that there isn't rca outputs on the headunit, because your using a harness. try using a line-output converter instead. a lot of people have had great success with this http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SLC4...Line+converter

Its been a while since I've read anything on the topic, but I thought this had to do with the remote wire and the amp not being properly powered down...

he said he was using the stock headunit. so please explain why getting a new aftermarket headunit is advice he shouldn't listen to?

It's probably more or less that it shouldn't really be a first thing to try - given the potential price to upgrade and all. It could be ONE of the options to try, but likely later on.

please explain why the stock headunit would cause this problem in the first place... it's because it's not. the problem didn't occur before he installed the amp, thus meaning it has absolutely nothing to do with the actual headunit itself. it's likely that he is tapping the wrong wire to use as his remote turn on lead. but to recommend replacing the entire headunit is stupid.

^^ where did you see me say the stock headunit is the problem?

all i said is that his best bet would be to get a new aftermarket headunit. and i also said that its not his only option.. but let me specify how i came up with the idea of just getting a new HU

for one it would get rid of the pop. second you wont need some harness to hook up an amp, it already has rca hookups on the back, and the sound quality would be improved if he got a new aftermarket headunit.

i had my my stock headunit hooked up to an amp, and at first i had the pop and alternator whine when nothing was plugged into the AUX port i got rid of the pop but never the whine.. i eventually got a new HU and everything sounds ALOT better

I had feeling it was either the harness or the HU, so ill just do away with both.
