MP3/AUX functionality
im not too shure what you mean by a two-way speaker cord but i am assuming it looks something like this ...

make sure that the output on your mp3 player and your deck are up. if that still doesnt work try another source, another mp3 player or anything with a headphone jack. then try plugging headphones into your mp3 player to make sure its not the mp3 player causing the problem.
if that doesnt help, make sure that you are using a TRS 1/8" plug. the link i posted above is how it should look like. their should be 2 rings on it, not one or three.
if that doesnt work, id say take it back to the dealership unless you want to open up your center console and trouble shoot it yourself. but id say take it to the dealership since your tC is still brand new.
