Default My audio is out, I need help

My step daughters 06 TCs audio is out. No distortion
Whatsoever. I understand it could be a speaker harness problem or maybe the amp. I took it to my dealer, he tells me that they would have to charge me at least $90 just to look at it basically. Is that worth it? Can someone else tell me how much am I looking at spending if there's an amp issue or speaker harness problem?

correct $90 is the right price. that is the normal cost per hour of labor that a dealership charges. even if it does not take them an hour it will still be $90. my suggestion is to try and find a smaller local car audio place to have them look at it. it will still cost anywhere from $45-60 an hour for labor at those places too, but that is better then $90.

well that depends. does the TC have the factory subwoofer and amp or does it have an aftermarket stereo system in it?

dont bring it to the dealer its a rip off. bring it to an audio place. you would have better luck bringing it to best buy

It's the whole system. No distortion at all. Power comes on but no audio whatsoever.

Take the deck out there are 2 different wireing harnesses one for power and one for the speakers check and see if the speaker wiring harness didnt come out or come loose. if that doesnt fix it best buy will prolly charge you 30 tp 50 bucks for diagnostics good luck

Our Tc's only have an amp on the factory subwoofer. If you don't have any sound at all you probably have a bad radio. When you turn the car on do you hear a quick pop from any speaker right as the radio comes on? If so that speaker may be blown and the radio is going into protection mode to save itself. If not the radio has probably gone bad. These radios are VERY simple to remove. If you go to metra.com and look up your vehicle there are instructions on exactly how to get them out. There is not a seperate plug for just speakers though. There is one plug that has all of your power and front speakers and one for just the rear speakers so if ALL of your speakers aren't working yet the radio turns on that is not your issue.

One thing you can try is to unplug the radio and let it sit for about 5 min. Then plug it back in and see if it works. Sometimes radio's do need to be reset just like a computer because they glitch but I haven't seen that from any scion's yet. Mainly GM radios do that.

I do work at best buy and will tell you that MOST best buys will diagnose it for you for 40 bucks at most BUT if you replace the radio they will waive that 40 if you get a new radio installed. That is what we usually do here at our store. Works out great for most people in your situation. That way if we fix it you just owe 40 and if you end up havign to replace it then you aren't out that extra money.

Hopefully this hleps.
