My car is only 2 years old......I have approx 61,000 miles on the car......I do alot of driving......and my drivers side seat is falling apart....everytime I get into the car there are little threads that form where I sit. I've head to cut sooooo many of these little threads that the seat is now almost down to the foam. Anybody else experience this problem? And do our seats have a warranty?

 

No and no. You're doing something wrong.

Seats would be covered under an interior warranty, so technically they do.

 

the fabric on the seats are weaved by crossing parallel unwoven fibers, and so if you rib your behind against your seat a lot, the fibers would break, and over time, they would wear down. It also has a lot to do with of course, with the types of fabric you usually wear. I first noticed it when I took a friend of mine, a really heafty guy, and he tried really hard to get comfortable in the seat, rubbing his fat ___ against the seat. After he got off, I noticed some broken threads. Luckily, that's the only time he was ever in my car.

 

the only way to prevent this is to stop itching your ___ with the fabric of the seats.

 

time to upgrade to Recaros.. I heard that Recaro now has seats with side airbags in them for those who have factory side air bags in the seat! no more worrying to replace the seat! Too bad the price, $2500 but I checked with the dealer. Turns out that's how much our tC seats are with side airbags! And we all know how much better Recaro are!

 

You should stop wearing pants made of Velcro.

Actually, in all seriousness, if what secures your back pockets on some of your pants are velcro, this will do it. My old car has a nice huge wear in the seat right where my right back pocket is.

 

I have this same problem on my 06. Mine isnt too bad yet, but does show some wear. You can always get a leather kit for around $800. Maybe you can find a member who upgraded to leather and is selling their stock seat covers. Otherwise get a cheapo seat cover from PepBoys

 

Yep, that was my first "mod", along with scrap carpet to make some cheap floor mats. Car's now 2.5yrs old, yet the seats and carpet still look new, for a cost of only $20.

I have the same problem but mine is probably because I'm 275 and run on it on my way in and put. I'm thinking about getting some clazzio covers since I can't afford katzkin and I have a newborn on the way.
