First off I had to create a subject that sounded interesting so people would look. So I was at work at it was slow so I thought of an idea to make a shift bootless shifter. I wanted to make it gated at first but I then realized that our shifters dont have that type of pattern and it would just be a wanna be. So I made it a little different. I dont know if anyone else has done this but this is what I came up with. Tell me what you think. I have a old nostalgic hurst shift **** on there because I like the look. (Sorry about this quality of the pics. The camera is about to take an ish.)

 

Not my favorite but not to bad if you get the details worked out.

And like you found out, a gated shifter will not work with our car due to the way the shifter moves. And honestly 99% of gated shift setups were crap right from the factory... talk about hard to hit fast shifts, especially when it gets any wear at all

I was always a big fan of gated shifters until I figured just as you said. Nice looking but not really user friendly.

how in the world do you shift now? it doesnt look like it can move very much. does look kinda cool though for some reason

 

Pretty sure the top ring just sits on the other plate, which has a larger hole in it.

 

I'd like to see a pic in each gear...I like the simple (read: clean) look of it.
