Default Navigation System

Does anyone own a scion navigation system and can tell me if they like it or not?

I dont own one, but dont feel its worth it for the cost. The ONLY thing going for it is it MIGHT increase resale value when you sell your scion, other than that, most aftermarket will cost you less and will be able to do a whole lot more!

I have the Pioneer avic-d2. Cheaper, I paid 800 for mine and does more than the OEM unit. I have navigation, vehicle diagnostics, xm radio hookup, dvd playback with an exterior unit.

a friend of mine just got an 08 tc with the nav. i was quite impressed with it, way cooler than honda's nav. the only thing was the price... for that price i could get a supercharger.

hmmmm nav or s/c? id take the latter.

anyone know how to bypass the factory navi, i can't play a dvd when i'm driving, i took care of the ebrake problem. it just stops playing as soon as i hit 8 or so miles per hour. does anyone have any ideas

i've cut the REV wire, SPEED wire, and grounded the EBRAKE wire.

as funny as it sounds, i even had my frnd shake the entire unit to see if there is a gyrometer built in it but the dvd stilled played so i don't think there is one

so i've heard from a couple of people that the factory nav is powered by alpine, if this is true, does anyone know what model alpine has it listed under so that i can try and find this video bypass particularly for this unit that people have been telling me about

x2!! The aftermarket units might be better for system expantion but the factory one is also covered by the warrenty, that's why I got it. And a 3SIXTY covers the system expantion issues.

no. all the wirings are not there and wouldn't be possible unless you rewire or rig it up to read from different sensor (ie speed sensor, brakes....) The navi unit needs some extra harness that plugs into the nav unit.

With aftermarket units do you lose the steering wheel controls? Or can it be set up so you still have the function on the steering wheel? I don't use mine that much but I don't want it to just be something to look at.
I've been wondering about this for awhile now.

you can retain the factory control. you would have to get one of those pie connectors that will learn the aftermarket commands and program it to the control on the steering wheel.
