Default Need advice for installing a double din..do I need a receiver kit? Need help ASAP.

I am going to install a JVC KW-XR810 in my 2005 TC. Do I need this in-dash receiver kit that Crutchfield is trying to include in my order? I thought you just put the stereo in using the original brackets, and then used the trim that comes with the receiver. Am I wrong? I saw pictures of the receiver kit, and it looks like it completely removes the TC stereo door. I was going to drill the brackets back a 1/4 inch deeper so the unit would be recessed and I could shut the door if I wanted to.

Any thoughts/advice on this would be great. Thank you all!

there probably isn't trim that comes with the receiver, bc they are not vehicle specific. The trim is vehicle specific. So, while not NEEDED, it would make things a lot easier and clean the dash up in the process

You don't need that kit unless you want the reciever to mount flush. I would use this instead to fill the gaps on the sides:

Try mounting the unit to the stock brackets before you drill new holes since it may sit back far enough already that you can close the door.

So I suppose it is one of two options:

1. Get the bigger kit, but take off the door cover
2. Get the kit for the sides only, and try to keep the door cover

I am not really sure how I feel about the door cover anyway; I never use it. I am trying to buy this for cheaper than what Crutchfield sells it for, and I know they have a lot of extras built in to the price. What do you all think about that? Fluff or needed stuff?
