Default No power in steering wheel :(

Hey everyone.. this is not the way I wanted to introduce myself.. but I just got used '06 tC w/ 21k miles..

I love the car but it seems the owner before me modified everything and put it back to stock.. so obviously the dealer is giving me crap about warranties being void.

Anyhow.. the most important problem is that my horn doesn't work.. whether I push it, or turn on the alarm... then I noticed that the lights on the radio controls (on the steering wheel) don't light up... and the cruise control doesn't work as well.

This prior owner had an aftermarket alarm installed but yanked out as I see cut wires and a cut ground behind the fuse panel behind the dash.

Can someone please lead me in some direction as to how I can fix this issue? I thought it was only the horn at first, but the fuses in the engine bay are fine.. and to my untrained eyes, the wires leading to the two horns seem fine. I think it has something to do with power leading to the steering wheel.. please help!

You could try picking up a voltage tester and check to see if the wires are getting power or not.
Voltage testers are around $20 I think. Maybe you have a friend with one?

Anyone else? I tried decifering the electrical manuals posted in the sticky but no luck... do the horn switch, cruise control switch, and lights on the steering wheel all connect at a common point?

*edit* after doing a little more searching, I noticed that if you use an aftermarket steering wheel you lose your horn, airbag, and cruise control. Maybe this is what the prior owner did.. Does anyone here have any experience with this?
