Okay so I am looking for tips anyone can give me. Basically what I want to do is paint the dash in pink, and then I have these little star cutouts that I want to place one the dash and paint over it in black. SO I have black with pink stars. (Although I am also thinking of going pink with black stars.... but I think the pink might be over whelming) anyways. I am afraid that the star cutouts will get STUCK under the paint and I wont be able to get them off.

SO I am thinking of 2 options. Leaving a little "pull tab" on each star to be able to take it off once the paint is dry... but I am afraid that may make the stars look funny....

OR... buying a star stencil instead and painting the stars on using the stencil.

Has anyone ever done anything like this? Do you think one of these are better than the other? Any other ways I can do this?

I am thinking of doing my gauge cluster first to "test it out" I figure if I mess it up that would be easier to fix than the waterfall LOL!

Any tips or help is appreciated!

What I would do is do the whole waterfall in black. put down masking tape in the shape of stars wherever, than do another few coats over that with pink. peel off the masking tape, than do a few coats of gloss over the whole thing.

Oh, and definitely test it out first, but why would you test it on a piece of your car!? Just get a scrap piece of plastic somewhere.

Thanks so much. I used a plastic piece my fiancee gave me to practice on and the dash came out AWESOME!~ I love it! I will post pics as soon as I can.

Some of the stars are a little imperfect, but thats makes it mine. It came out great for being a 1st timer!

the easiest way is to use pinstriping to form the image you want and then tape it up.......works great and then you can airbrush it
