I've got a ?.....I did flea's method of painting, with about 7 coats of gloss black, wetsanding, and then 4 coats of clear with wetsanding and then rubbing compound. It was really smooth and looked shiny for the first day, but after sitting in the car in the sun the next 2 days, it faded out in some spots and looks like crap. The flat black that I did in the center still looks great. What could have caused the fading in the glossy areas? I used krylon gloss black plastic paint for the first coats and a krylon clear. Thanks for any input you guys might have!

Maybe there is still running compound on it.

Apply the rubbing compound by machine...by hand it will look like $hit!

needed opinion since this is the dash thread. i have the carbon fiber overlay ( like the gunmetal colored one, not the black one) and didnt know if painting the silver to color match (nbm) would look good or not because of the cf or if i should leave it the way it is?

Thanks man. I didn't clear it on purpose. I wanted the flatter red to match the seats better. I still gotta touch it up.
