As people have mentioned before I believe, once you enter your destination information you are free to remove the nav dvd as it will cache the necessary maps/information.

im saving up for the Z1. I think that is the shiet. Double Din, Blu-Ray Dvd, harddrive, no need for the navi dvd, bluetooth, the whole works.

i believe $2799 was the cheapest ive found. I used to install for Circuit City, and Pioneer always released an employee discount. From what i remember, when they released the N1 they gave 70% discount to ccity employees.
I got lost the other day going to my tax guys office in Garden Grove. The 5 Fwy was jammed tight like a cats butthole, so i took an exit i wasnt familiar with and ended up in La habra. I tld my gf, f*** the turbo im gettin that Navi.

blu-ray? you sure about that one? i don't think so... not even on the soon to be released Z2. What is cool is that it has the internal HDD and text-to-voice guidance. But for double the price of D3? Umm.. no thanks.

it was supposed to be blu-ray but i guess not. I just checked up on their website on the Z1, and their MRSP is $2250.

NO blu-ray for the Z1. Good thing about the Z1 you have blue tooth, voice commands, and the all so mighty HDD. The Z1 is a hard to find item now a day. I remember reading through AVIC411, that people got the Z1 through ABTelectronics for very cheap, like 1700 or so. They don't stock it anymore though (OOS).

I would love to get my hands on a Z1, the D3 does look nice but the 6" screen is kind of a turn off. But the price is good.

I just installed the D3 tonight. Pretty nice for the price. I give it a 7 of 10 rating.

7 of 10 because it's missing a few good features such as:
-harddrive navi
-2-disc drive
-bigger screen
-text to speech (they pronounce the street names)
-voice recognition

I'm being picky of course. For $1000, the D3 is a great deal. The good features that are missing can be found on the Z1 and Z2, but they're an extra $1000. So you get what you pay for. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this navi.

I bought this at Pacific Stereo, a local stereo shop. They had just received a shipment of them when I went there. I'll definitely take some pics.
