do the simplest test. take some speakers and plug it directly into the amp (or a DMM if u have one). also remember ur car chassis is all grounded to the negative terminal of ur battery. speaker wires touching that chassis would be bad and u should of heard something that didn't sound good when that happened.

New Development.
I did something I should have done before I wasted all my supplies. I used the power/ground/rem/rca's from my sub/amp and connected them to the new amp. Well, this powered the amp right up fine. However, I'm not getting sound, or very loud sound, from my speakers. They are playing but you have to really crank it up to get even audible sound...What could be the issue? And yes I moved the rca's to the front section on the head unit.

Totally agree on those points, many companies have been making RCA cables with an integral REM lead for years, and people haven't had noise issues when the REM trigger is connected to an appropriate source.

There's no need for shielded RCAs in the tC either. All that's needed is a twisted-pair design, as that inherently rejects the type of radiated noise in question.

In fact, we actually all have incentive to AVOID shielded RCA cables. Why? Because the shield itself is a conductor. If the shield has a gap anywhere, allowing noise to be introduced at any point in the shield (cable is running along the car body, body has a lot of current flowing through it all the time, as the body is the car's ground point for EVERYTHING), then the shield will transmit the noise the entire length of the cable, resulting in a greater potential to introduce audible noise. That can't happen with non-shielded cable, and since a twisted-pair design does such a great job at rejecting noise, I suggest avoiding shielded RCAs.

Not arguing, just presented for what it's worth, do whatever makes you happy.

Take a speaker and get a foot of wire and wire it directly to the speaker terminal of the amp. Plug the RCAs into the amp input, put your volume around 50% on the HU and play music. It should turn on and play music. If the volume is low, you can adjust the sensitivity/gain on the amp to increase the output. Does it do this?

Ok, I took it down and got it wired up and everything. Now I have another problem. When I turn on the stereo and keep the volume low so I can here other things I get a horrible nnnnnnnnnnnnn sound coming from the speakers. It starts when I turn the key to On or with the engine running. It stops when I turn the key to ACC. Anybody know what kind of noise this is? I have a Pioneer deck. It doesn't increase with volume and it doesn't change pitch with acceleration.

The noise wasn't there before. When I unplug the new rca's the noise goes away, with my sub/amp rca's still connected. When I plug the new ones back in, I get the noise.

Plug what in somewhere else? The rca's or the deck?

Take it to a shop and have them fix the problems. A shop is more qualified to troubleshoot a problem because they have physical access to your car and we don't. Don't gamble with your equipment if you're not 100% on what to do.

There's your problem. Pioneers are notorious for having a faint noise in the RCAs if you plug/unplug them while the radio is on.

See if this link will help http://icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php?t=40067

I did this
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...l/IMG_1066.jpg
but I didn't ground it the same way they did. What I did was took the other ends of the wire and put them under two screws on the metal casing of the deck. Simple, but extremely effective. I did this only to the new ones and the noise is gone.
