Default Problems with E-brake sleeve slipping. Anybody?

I have a manual tc and as yall know cars owners with sticks frequently use their hand brake. There's no mechanical problems. The problem I have is with the rubber trim sleeve over the hand brake slipping forward. It slips forward enough to cover the release button. The problem seems to have occured thru frequent use over time and I think some thing is worn out. Don't really know how it's all held together but I need it fixed. Anyone came across this problem? Please help me.

Well I'm able to slip it back into position when e-brake is disengaged but when it is engaged, it keeps slipping forward the moment I release it. I just open her up for inspection and like squallheart stated, "It just slips on." No signs of any adhesives keeping it in place. I took it off to clean and dry inside of it and it still slips. I think the rubber expanded when I sprayed Armor All around that area from routine cleaning. Is it possible that the Armor All swelled the rubber? Anybody know how I can reshrink it?

I'm car dumb when it comes to taking things apart, so let me know exactly how you remove the boot (pics would be nice too) and after I inspect and see that stuff fits, you can have mine. I want to add a ebrake handle and boot that match my interior. Just one more thing to be **** about. haha. I'm always worried I'll break something if I don't know exactly what I'm doing, so give me a run down and if you're familiar with the Momo style handbrake *****, how easy one would fit. If all works out, I have no need for my stock boot any longer, so it's yours if you want it. It's on there solid right now. If i pull forward on it with some muscle, it'll move, but otherwise stays in place.

Now this discussion is going in another direction.

Can anybody tell me if it's possible to reshrink the rubber sleeve to the hand brake handle? Thanks.

I thought heat expands materials.

Well I guess I'll just have to replace it. I hope the sleeve is available without the whole handbrake lever.

Umm....it's just slipped on.

I've removed mine about 5 times when I'm bored.

Easiest when the entire center console is out, but I've done it through the console before

Yeah, I do stupid things when I'm bored in my car.

Could always completely remove it, line the inside with some sort of glue that works with both rubber and metal, then slip it back on.

You'd have to take the center console out to do it best.

Link in sig, has instructions
