Default Quick question about the stock audio system

Are the speakers amplified through the HU or are there amps on the speakers themselves? I've checked the wiring diagrams but I just wanna make sure.

Thought I should comment for the uninformed. That "160w" is a rating that no one should put any emphasis on. The actual usable power is about 15w x4 (60w total). If/when it puts out more power, the frequency response doesn't remain flat and there's way too much distortion. Even a cheap, small outboard amp that puts out an actual 25wpc will play much louder and cleaner than the HU.

^^ thank you. yea, 160W is just the maximum rating

doesn't really mean much about how great it'll sound when you push it on a stock deck.

Any recommended cheap and effective amps to power the stock speakers?

i'm rather partial to rockford fosgate and jl amps.... but i currently stuck an old xtant mono block sub amp on my front door speakers. flipped the jumpers to disable the xover and set the output to full range. those stock speakers can thump, and the tweets can scream!

.....also helps to add a 12...... or two...... ^_^
