Default Quick Wiring Question

Alright I have never wired anything in my life, by reading through these forums I have managed to hook up a couple LED's into my car. I put the lights in today, everything works lights up, looks great. I bought the single LED's, not a strip or a bar. When I wired them up a took a long power wire, then stripped each led one by one. So the final connection looks like a T for each LED. To secure the connection, I twisted the wires together then wrapped it up in electrical tape. My question is that did I secure the wires well? Is electrical tape a way to do it? Is the way I secured it safe? Yes the lights work, yes I did put in a fuse.

electrical tape isn't the best thing to use.

taps would be the easiest things to use.. and though just wrapping wires together works.. a more secure connection would have the wires soldered together.

instead of electrical tape, i would use heat shrink tubing.

ok, but for the meantime it'll be fine just with the tape?
You dont think it'll burn through or anything because of the heat?

While soldering is the best connection, most of the times it's done wrong (cold solder joints, melted through insulation}. Also, when dealing a twin lead situation like an LED, you'll need to stagger the solder points to maintain a smoother profile, and use 3 pieces of heat shrink. Narrow body crimps are preferred in this case. For LEDs, use inline 20ga crimps and a quality crimping tool (I like the Klein cutter/crimpers). Crimping is easy to learn and master and avoids things like: burnt fingers, carpets, consoles, components and harsh language when you do the previous mistakes.

x2

there are also butt connectors that you can use, but professionals prefer soldering wire together.
