Regardling Morning startups
Im not sure if my problem falls under this topic thread. please move if it is.
Recently while remote starting my car in the cold it turns on, idles at 2k for the first 5 seconds and the car turns off. This only occurs in the morning on a cold start, after that phase is over.. the rest of the day there has been no problems. Using the key to turn it on in the morning hasn't given me a problem. This is the second winter i'll be going through with the remote starter and i had no problems last winter.
Any suggestions?

Don't know. It doesnt get cold around here so I can't answer your Q. I have a remote starter. It has worked perfectly fine. I don't see a difference in idle whether I start it with the key or start it remotely. Hope someone else can shed some light.
Bump for help.

It's probably just the starter. Toyota's stock starters suck in the cold. They do offer a heavy duty starter from the dealership I do believe or you can find somewhere online where they sell this.
