Default Remote Start Install Questions

Any tips on installing a remote start/alarm system in the tC? I'm going to be doing the install next weekend with a friend (who has done installs before but not on Scions/Toyotas).

One thing I'm a bit lost on is the immobilizer deal. Do I need a module to bypass this or can I just use the valet key somehow with my system, etc?

Any help appreciated. BTW - I got a Python 872P if that helps.

Well if this is both your first time on a scion, i wouldn't recomend it. You could use the 556UW and place the valet key in it. This then has a wire that wraps around the ignition cylinder. The XK modules are ten times better though.

word.. im05 4tw.. pretty easy. if u need any interfaces let me know i can ship you one. i can give u any wire colors or tech support also! locks are negative in the kick double pulse unlock. i belive second start/ second ignition. couple relays and your good!

best way i found to take off the shroud for steering colum is to remove the two screw on the left and right and one below. take a phillip head screw driver and insert the tip into one of the screw holes give it a good tap it all comes down with no broken clips!

i wouldnt want to jam a screw driver in the steering column shroud to get it apart. That leaves nasty marks.

Why wouldn't you recommend it?

Its a little more complex than a normal remote starter. Also the lack of space when doing it. I do them all the time, and when I did mine I actually took off the entire dash. Its also a pain finding IMO and IMI wires. If your good with a digital multimeter go for it. Just prepared to spend a few hours doing it.

I think my pre-wire lasts about a half an hour. So how can you do an entire install in one hour! lol

x2 scion tc's are easy if you do it a lot.

i would go for the 556 if your a first timer. xk modules kick ___ 99% of the time, especially if your good at them. i had a 05 silverado and tahoe, both times the xk01 i was using was bad... sucked so bad and of course we only had one in stock!

.. but alarms, particularly remote starts are not the easiest thing to do if your inexperienced.

just take your time, read the install manual and just cuz your friend has done it before and it worked, doesnt mean he did it right. make sure all your connections are secure (i solder everything). good luck! and like the others said.

if you need tech support i can help as well.

I'm getting an XRO9100 and I need to install it. Is this a good starter. I get a good deal at work. Is it difficult to install?
