Satellite Radio options for my 2007 TC
I cannot seem to find a good spot for my PnP unit in my 2007 Scion tC. I figured I'd bite the bullet and have the dealership install the radio conrols to the head unit. They want 675 installed for the job. I know for a fact that this is an absurd price.
I was thinking of getting a nicer PnP unit ony if I can find a good spot for it. The cupholder option is OK, but you lose a holder and have wires all over the place. Does anyone have a nice PnP unit setup that they have pics of? I need some ideas.
I was thinking of going this route;

However, I am not sure if this unit is compatible with the 2007 facoty radio. Is the installation a hassle?
You guys always seem to come through....

That unit is NOT compatible with the stock head unit. Your options are PnP, the overpriced dealership option, or replace the headunit and get a satellite receiver that works with the aftermarket headunit (should still be cheaper than the dealership option). Can't help you on the placement of the PnP unit. Could always get a mounting kit and put it on the dash. I've also seen mounts that attach to the side of the console or the floor.
Our dealership here in Berkeley failed to tell us we needed the antenna installed to get XM or Sirius when we ordered it. The website has no mention of the unit in the configurator or elsewhere.
Aftermarket XM/Sirius units are $50-$100 at circuit city but apparently Scion has made sure that you'll need to buy the $400+ option by making their system proprietary. If anyone has found a workaround (other than a small portable in the glovebox kind of option), let me know. Has anyone tried hacking the connector kit?

if i was in your situation id just use a portable satellite receiver (mainly cause its portable) and just use the AUX-In inside the tc. and you could wire it anyway you would like it (cupholder, dash, etc.) and at least as far as ive seen, no necessary antennas to install on the portable receivers
I'm going to pick up either the Stilleto or S50. That way I can listen to satellite radio in the car or in the house. Get more usage out of the monthly service charges.
