Default Short Video of gauges post-LED swap...

<--very happy camper

Just got mine done this weekend, I absolutely HATED the amber color, it made me angry and I needed something more calming. Since I've got an RS2, I went with mostly blue, red needles (although at night they don't look red OR purple, which is more the effect I thought I'd get), and red warning lights (yes, they are RED RED, pics are slightly deceiving, my digi cam can only do so much though). I also had superwhites put into the map lights and blue led bulbs put in the main and rear dome. So without further adieu, here are two pics:

and you can download short 20 second video by simply
RIGHT CLICKING HERE, then selecting "Save Target As".

*don't left click, for some reason my host won't allow the video to work if you do

Also I'd just like to give a big thanks to RJ for his time and effort to get this done properly, I'd highly recommend him to anyone in the Scion community who's looking to get their gauges done, he knows his stuff and he does excellent work! Not to mention, just an all-around nice guy.

On the topic of shout outs, I'd also like to commend Garage1217 for being a great guy to do business with, and also coming through in a clutch last night with resistor number 472 for the win! Plus he's got a killer workshop and makes some seriously awesome stuff...*drools over sheets of carbon fiber*

As I mentioned in the other LED swap post, these guys are a great asset to the Scion community, and their willingness to ensure that I was happy with their work/product far exceeded my expectations. If you're in the market, these two deserve your business. Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciated it.

is there a way to wire in different colored led's in different parts of the gauge cluster? I'd like to do white, and then have blue around where the needles start.

Yes, there is. SqualHeart said white LEDs and colored celluphane (sp?) can create that effect, but I don't believe its been done yet.

Actually, you could do whte gauges and then blue led's illuminating the needle. At least from what I saw of the board, I think there are dedicated LED's that illuminate the numbers/gauge itself and then different dedicated LED's that illuminate the needle. I'm not 100% sure, but I'm like 98% that this could be done.

ah...I usually use IE and for some reason, when you left click w/ IE it just says "connecting" on WMP and then never does anything.

for the speedo, there are two dedicated leds for the needle.. and their light does leak outward.. as far as the other needles.. no.

it's possible.. i'm sure.. but it may require some rigging/experimentation

yeah worked on left click here too...FireFox also. You need to paint the needles IMO...but other than that it looks awesome.

..how much did it cost you?

Actually, the needles were painted, it's a very visible red during the daytime, but at night they're harder to read. Might end up redoing them blue...

Cost for all the LED's was $75, I did all the interior lighting with the exception of the radio LED's, because I'll be reinstalling my aftermarket head unit soon anyway.

I really would like to do this to my car, but I have no idea how to get back there / how much it would cost to have done? It looks good imo

Well, if you're in AZ, and you're not particularly comfortable with soldering and/or taking apart your gauge cluster/hvac/etc, then definitely make a trip down to see RJ. If you're not in AZ, and you have an alternative form of transportation for long enough to ship your gauges out, I'm sure they'd help you with that as well.

If you ARE comfortable with the soldering and whatnot, there's a pretty detailed "how-to" in this section of the forum, just get your search on, should be pretty easy to find, it's at like 12 pages or something now.

No prob, thanks for hookin' it up with the magical resistor (I can actually see how fast I'm going now! Come to think of it...maybe I should have just left it off...lol).
