I wanted to post a solution I found to a problem I had with my car. My car is old and the rear view mirror started getting really loose (especially in the Summer).
I looked around online, but I couldn't find a good solution.

Last weekend, I came up with a random idea to apply a few coats of clear nail polish to the ball part of the ball/socket joint for the mirror.
The idea is that the extra nail polish layers will tighten up the clearance between the ball and the socket.
Anyways, it's been a few days and it seems like it is working.

update:
it's in the middle of summer, and the rear view mirror seems to be working ok.
