Some sound issues
Hello everybody, got some sound issues and wondering if you guys could help me troubleshoot.
I don't know all the in's and out's of audio, but I love to DIY.
Anyway, I have an 07 TC with a Clarion VRX935 head unit. The only audio upgrade I had until now was an audiobahn amp and a couple subs. The front and mid speakers are stock. I took out the stock front speakers and installed a pair of INFINITY 5020CS components, installation wasn't too bad, I wired them up to run off the 935 through the stock wiring, which is like 50w x 4.
I thought I stuck to the directions pretty well as far as wiring them up, however, the sound is not that loud at all and when I go to turn it up, I can only go so far before they start crackling( which isn't that much louder). Sounds good, just real low, the mid speakers are the same, no change, pretty good, and when I talk about loud, I mean normal loud, not like blow your ear drum loud.
I noticed with the stock wiring that it's run to the tweeter first, then on to the woofer. I just snipped it at the tweeter and joined them, then ran it to the crossover. So not sure if I screwed up there somehow. I thought about just getting another amp and running new wiring, but if I can run it off my HU that would be great.
If anyone can see the error in my ways, your help would be great.

I sounds like you have discovered the shortcomings of using the HU's internal amp. The 50x4 that they quote in the specs is max output, not RMS. RMS (constant) power is more like 18x4 or something. Definitely need to get an amp to power those components.
Also, I believe those speakers are only 2 ohm which means if you hook them to your head unit, you risk overheating and frying the HU. Another reason to get an external amp.

Will this amp match up well?
AUDIOBAHN A1504DP
# 2400 Watt Class D, True Digital Circuitry 4-Channel Car Amplifier
# 300 watts x 4 chan. @ 4 ohms MAX
# 150 watts x 4 chan. @ 4 ohms RMS
# 600 watts x 4 chan. @ 2 ohms MAX
# 300 watts x 4 chan. @ 2 ohms RMS
the 4 speakers are INFINITY KAPPA PERFECT 5.1:
power range: 100 watts RMS (400 watts peak power) at 4 ohms. Not sure if the amp may be too much for these or not. I see that the 4 ohm RMS is 150 on the amp, I think that may be too much for these if I'm reading this right.? Does it matter that the amp is a class D amp?
Any thoughts?
