You can offset the cutout for the subwoofer, and then make a trim piece for the floor of the hatch. Or you could do what I did, and make the fiberglass floor off center:

yea i was thinking about off centering the box ...but that would be WAY too big cause its only one 12'' ...i can almost lay the frame of the box inside the tire hole but its inpossible to offset the cutout

It's too far to the side to make the cut out in the center?

I played with it long ago, when my hatch resembled stock and I thought you could offset it enough.

Time to take apart Courtney's car again ;)

yea my prob is the outer frame doesnt quite fit in the hole it needs to go up on one of the edges ...but too small to be on both edges of the hole ...this is kinda what my box will look like ....will the shape of the right side effect the building u think ?

How did you glass the floor?

We first applied damping materials to the trunk's floor. The box was a simple frame - as shown in the top pic. The black color is fleece that was stapled to the perimeter of the MDF. You can use 3M90 spray glue to stretch and stick it to the contours of the floor, then apply LOTS of resin and fiberglass mat (yellowish color).

Did you glass right to the floor? Not to painters tape or something to make it removable?

The top of the *dynamat* is non-stick foil, and thus the box didn't stick to it. You can use tape or whatever you want in areas that aren't covered in dynamat, but these areas don't exist in my trunk!
