so i wired everything correctly.. the sub works fine.. the amp should work... i plug everything up and nothing...
any ideas?
it's a jl 500/1
jl 10w6v2
alpine 9853 head unit
yes subwoofer is turned on on the head unit...
it's on f/r/swoofer for the x-over
everything is on in the amp...
i'm guessing it's the rca's or the amp itself. gonna find a voltage meter thing.. and check and make sure somethings coming through.. any advice?

no. 48 hours and no progress... yes everything is hooked up right... yes the amp powers on... ground is good... tried other amps and subs.... nothing.... so i'm guess rcas are bad? that is possible right?
Did you check that the speaker wires coming from the amp are in check with the polarity? I have a jl 300/4 and one of my speakers didn't work cause I had the polarity backwards....just a thought. Good luck...and definitely look over everything with a voltage meter.....
Check the speaker wires inside the sub box (loose connection/s). If that's not it, then move on to the RCA cables from BEHIND the headunit (again, loose connection/s). If you have extensions for the RCA cables definitly check those (personal experince there).
mine did the same at first, i've got an mtx and JL set up. i used a power tester and found it best where the back of my stock deck is missing a wire harness for scions after market crap. i kept my stock unit, i do have an alpine also that kicks ___. it hooks up multi amps, xm, tvs, dvds, and has some bad a$$ features. pm me so i know exactly what you have and did, maybe i can solve your issue. i do my own set ups.

thanks for the help and advice... anyone else?
we also tried a different amp... no response... then a different sub... no response...
i'm guessing... something on the head unit... or... the rca cable is just bad.

very funny matt.... yes i'm getting sound through the speaker but not the sub.... i'm about to become a tc hater in one second and trade it in for a camry... i'm getting tired of this dumb car. POS!
If you've tried other amps and subs in place of the JL setup and you still have the same issue, then you must be having an issue with the RCA's or a ground issue. Just because the amp turns on does NOT mean that your ground is a good solid ground. Have you had any blown fuses?
First, make absolutely sure your ground connection is clear. You need to grind away any and all paint from the connecting point. Clean the grounding point after grinding off the paint to ensure there is nothing to hinder your connection. Reconnect the ground.
If this has not fixed the issue, you need to verify the function of the RCAs and RCA cables. Do you have a spare set of cables to try? If so, try them. Switch the RCA cables from the sub pre-out to another pre-out set of RCAs. Anything?
It is highly doubtful that your Scion is the source of this problem. More than likely, it is an installation issue.

i can almost guarantee your sub control is on 0. i think the default is on zero so it doesnt scare the ____ out of you. it is basically a gain control so since u have it at 0= no sound fool. put it on 15 and lets the good times roll. have fun
