system need help bad
alright guys i have a few q's here. So i have 2 memphis 12's with a 800w amp. I had a subzone dual box that had like plexi glass to see the speakers inside the box and 2 ports on each side where the 12's were so 4 ports. It sounded real good but was to big for the trunk and too heavy. so todays i went and got a smaller lighter but thicker wooded box and this ones a slotted or whatever like the 2 12 holes on the outside and a slit in betweent the 12's. So i thought this would help since it was thicker wood and lighter also and wouldnt take up as much space and would let air flow move. After i switched now the bass is different it dont hit a hard but hits lighter and different. why is this, i like the box but miss as much bass the other one had. also would this hurt anything, i accidentally put a tiny lil hole in one speaker when screwing it in but its microscopic, any help on my question and knowledge u guys have would help. thanks... I have 1 more q actually might as well ask now, if i get 2 better 12 subs that can handle 1 of my amps each, so like 1 amp on each 12 and get anotha amp for the other 12 would that help much cus i know since i bridged the amp to 2 12's i believe that gives you a little more bass, thanks guys help appreciated, later
ok....well different style boxes are going to give different sound. Sounds like you went from a bandpass to a vented. That change will certainly give a different sound. There is nothing wrong with your subs or anything. Well except for the hole that you put in the one. As for the hole it really wont make a difference in your case.
Yes if you add another amp it will make it louder. You will be doubling the power to the subs. I would un-bridge your amp to the two subs because I doubt that your amp can bridge into a 2 ohm load(assuming 4ohm speakers).
