Default rear license plate cam install....need help!!!!

ok so once all of this damn snow is gone and weather warms up i am going to install my rear license plate cam that goes on my license plate cover. i know i have to run the wires in through the hatch, but after that i need direction as to how to run them since the hatch sits open at shows......so i dont know exactly how to run the wires from there..... need some suggestions... and pics would be great!!

thanks in advance,

I wish I could get some pics but I no longer have my tC... But anyway...

Take off the interior plastic on the hatch. Start from the top of the hatch and make your way down.

Take off the Rear garnish (where your emblem is) and you can run your wires through there.

Run the wires to the top of the hatch and use that rubber boot that has the stock wiring for the 3rd brake light.

Then just run it through above the headliner to your driver or passenger side A pillar and I'm pretty sure its self explanatory from there.

And of course, put everything back together.

I hope that leads you in some sort of direction...

lilflip nailed. i drilled mine into the hatch to let the wires in so no wire can be seen. then once its in there just run the wires along the side of the hatch under the plastic part. once you get to the grommet area make a small incision in the grommet so that you can sqeeze the wire through (mines on the outside of the tube but still goes on the grommet). dont forget to give a little slack so that it wont get pulled when you open/close your hatch. then trace that to your rear headliner. open your headliner a bit, then run that to whichever side you are going to run your wires, down the c-pillar. then wherever you wanna run it to. and that should work.

i as well thought he couldnt install the license plate.. lol

I have one of those too. i got in and ran the wires all nice but i can't seem to figure out which of the 2 wires is positive and negative. There is one wire with a white stripe on it and the other one is just black (im guessing the white stripe means its positive).

i was thinking of tapping into the backup lights through the fuse box but i need to figure out the wire thing first.

also i thought my xenarc monitor would automatically flip to the camera when it detected a signal from input 2 but it doesn't, so i need to figure that bit out too.

ive had it in for more than 3 months and still haven't hooked it up :p

I did mines a while ago, here is the link to it. Not the same as your cam but close enough.
