I haven't tried to fix it yet, but today. The "sexy sound" is even happening with the cover down now, just noticed on the way home today. Once I figure out how to take this car apart I'll do this. Has the helped anyone else. I plan on taking my car apart next month or when I have enough cash to pay for the mods I plan on doing. I'm gonna do all my wishful modifications all at once. This is one

sorry for the late reply. i got unsubscribed from this thread and didn't realize you guys had questions.

taking the dash apart is relatively easy. there are some threads on here that have pictures showing how, but i couldn't find them. maybe you'll have better luck with the search engine. i personally used the diagrams that came with the bazooka sub installation guide. here's the picture that shows where all the clips are.

you can pretty much just follow what it says there and you're done. this is all i used the very first time and found it easy to do. forget about the nylon removal tool. i used a flat screwdriver and wrapped it in a microfiber cloth so i wouldn't scratch my dash. then, just carefully slip the screwdriver between the dark grey and silver part of the dash and push up until you feel the clips give way. remember to do it in the order they indicate above! to be honest, once you pop up the first two, you can pretty much get the other ones by just slipping your fingers in there and pushing up.

also, since you're mostly working with the upper panel and not the lower half where the shifter is, i found that you don't really need to unscrew the shift ****. also, i didn't disconnect the cigaratte lighter wire. once you pop up the lower console, you just want to move it out of the way enough so that it doesn't interfere when you are taking off the upper panel. my shift boot allowed for such flexibility. i'm not 100% sure if you will be able to do the same with an auto.

putting it all back together is just the reverse. it's not as hard as you might think. hope this helps!

yeah, that's why i referred to it as the "radio door squeek" in my link. i figured nobody would know what i was talking about if i called it the "vent squeek" lol.

yeah, this fix is more for the high-pitched squeek that some of us were hearing. a rattle sounds like a different problem. before trying this fix, did you take the center console apart for any reason, like to install a stereo? when did you first notice it?

Did the fix today and so far no more squeeks so I am very pleased and hope they do not come back. I never had any squeeks before I installed my aftermarket HU so was a little upset it came about. But the rigged up fix works, I used electrical tape btw. Still need to figure out how the heck to get my radio reception back to normal though.

Sorry, just read through the fix and have some contructive criticism...

Couldn't you just put a dab of hot glue on the rod that fits through that hole? That would prevent it from squeaking/moving....

Had to bring this thread back from the dead... I was driving home tonight and my radio was starting to squeak. I would normally just crank up the radio, but since I was on the phone I couldn't. Man did that squeaking drive me nuts.

well, it's designed that way for a reason. if i recall correctly, the part with the rod is supposed to have some play. when you take the center console out you can see that the top part can be pushed down, so it's flexible to some extent. i think this flexibility is necessary for removing and replacing the console. if you start gluing stuff down you might start running into other trouble. the reason i went with tape in the specific areas mentioned was simply to limit the flexibility causing the squeek, not to remove it all together.

thank you so much for this information, that noise was driving me insane. I thought it was from when i drilled my headunit to sit back further being that its a dual din and i wanted my door to close. this saved me a lot of time of trying to eliminate this noise.

I'll be doing this mod this weekend.

Just an update... Did this on monday. I put hot glue on the rod that squeaked and put hot glue in in all the spots shown in the how to and I have no squeaks.

I just read through this thread and it was very helpful with eliminating the squeak - that was unbearable!
