Well I dont know the exact maximums but I recall when I was making my box, I couldn't fit anything larger than....

36" wide x 24" deep x 14" tall (to fit snug behind the seats)

That was to keep it below the cover, and give the speakers some room to move.

My box is actually 32" wide x 14.5" deep x 14.25" tall

The height is pushing it, can't go any taller... with 32" wide I still have room to mount an amp on the side, and with 14.5" deep there is still plenty of room for the speakers to move and store some small stuff if needed.

My tC is an '06 but it is probably the same, hope this helps!

good point, I wouldnt go much more than 16-18" deep at 14" high.... the hatch may start getting in the way.

Actually 16 -18" deep 14" high sounds pretty big as is, with still giving you enough room to access your spare. I wouldnt suggest more than those measurements either..

You would have to take the box out or drop the seats and slide the box back to get to your spare.

I think at that deep, you'll be rubbing the rear trim piece...I did that the first time

Well the bottom of my slanted box goes 14.5" deep, but it goes all the way flush against the seats... if you are going to have a straight in the back box you might wanna lose 4". But there is still a few inches to play with til the hatch.

Check out my box: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/.../tc/trunk1.JPG
my specs are ^^^^^ on other post.

If you wanted to go deeper you would have to lose probably 1.5-2" in height..... so... I think your max dimensions are either:

36"w x 14"h x 12"d

or

36w x 12"h x 16"d

That's probably maximums if you're building a rectangular box for the stock cargo area. To play it safe just stick to 12"h x 12"d if you have 10" subs, or add 1.5" to height for 12" subs......

hope this helps
