What I was thinking was replacing the rear speakers with ones that would have more bass to them. I don't want something that the neighbors can hear, just something to round out the system nicely, speakers that can push bass. Do you guys/gals have any suggestions for speakers?
haha, do u want to have your cake and eat it too?? j/k..

you DON't want to replace the Rears with 2ways if you just want bass. Get some NICe 5.25 (or whatever the rear speaker size is) MIDBASS DRIVERS..No tweets. A nice set won't be cheap, plus you'll need to amp them. I'd suggest just getting creative and makeing a space-friendly enclosure for that sub you have.

Midbass drivers or components WILL provide you with a little extra bass, just won't be able to play the bass notes very loud (due to the smaller cone surface area relative to a sub). Eg. When you're driving on the hiway with a lot of road noise, you're going to lose a lot of your bass. ALso, if you ever get an itch to TURN it UP (so your neighbors CAN hear) with a sub, you'll have a lot more head room to crank up the volume on the bass.

Either that, or one of those Infinity or kenwood powered sub systems.. I wouldn't put much stock in them, but if you only want a little extra bass.. i guess that mite work. people seem to be satisfied with them...

He never said he "just" wants bass. He just wants more than he has from the stock speakers. So any decent 2way speaker would be just fine b/c it would push out more bass but also keep the highs clean.

Of course, why wouldn't you eat the cake you have?? lol

Yeah, just a little extra bass. I've out grown the big bass and my hearing has suffered a little because of it. So just a little something to round out everything will do. I ordered the kenwood system. Got a decent price, so I'll report back when it comes in and everything is installed.

Once again, you guys have been very helpful and thank you for all the advice!

you would gain alot o mid bass simply by bouilding enclosures for your door and rear speakers. probably the biggest difference without an amp.

you shouldnt try to push 2- way speakers like that...ive had experience witha few brands in my past rides...they will be good for the time being, but will end up sounding horrible. leave them pushing mids n highs and get the eu 700 u could hid the amp if u dont want it exposed.

Well, the Kenwood powered subs are in. I was a bit skeptical of them, but decided to go for them anyway because I knew they would fit in the cargo hold underneath the hatch floor. After a brief scare of them not working and discovering I'm a complete idiot, I connected it to the battery and voila! BASS. And it was BASS. I'm very surprised by the bass of this unit. It's more than enough for my tastes, and it rounds out the system nicely. Definitely worth the money and anyone that is comtemplating getting a little bit more bass in their system, this is a very good unit.

One thing I noticed is that the styrofoam in that cargo hold vibrates rather harshly creating a really annoying rattle with it hits. I used some foam tape to solve that problem.
