Kicker for the money, overall good speakers...

Eclipse only makes good decks....their speakers aren't worth crap....

MB Q highest quality if you can afford it....some may complain about the highs being too high tho

Now tell me what amp will change the Ohms of a sub!An who in there right mind would buy a 8 ohm sub if you plan on thumping hard. I bet ive had more cars in SPL competition and sound off. What shop do you work for Circuit City.

Here http://www.the12volt.com/ohm/ohmslaw.asp you need to do some more studing on Ohm' s Law

Jesus... talk about some off topic ****'s...

for components / coax's, go with the MBQ reference from your choices....

Kickers stuff does well with SPL, but they take far too much attention to make them decent at SQ... not to mention the only good kicker mids/highs are big $$$$$.... the square's are hard hitting monsters, but sound like poo...

I would go with Quart.. I used to work for them. They are great speakers and can take the abuse.. Kicker stuff just isnt there.

One thing about the MBQ's though, you'll probably want to fire the tweeters off axis because many people say they are bright... I had the MBQ PSD components a few yrs back... had the tweets angled toward the occupants and they were a bit too bright, I thought....

Very good point there. Quart speakers are made to sound the best off axis. We did a demo with them on and off axis and they actually sounded better off axis then facing right at you.

You should already know my answer. Just look in my car domain profile below to see what I push in both my truck and my tC.

A speaker's impedance varies greatly with frequency, and there are apparently people here who have some very strange (& wrong) ideas about matching sub(s) to amps, so be careful!

Um yeah.

To me MBQs and Eclipses are way to bright. Way to much treble - they hurt my ears. I am a fan of BAs. But make sure you hear these speakers before you buy. I know people that bought this brand instead of that brand just because someone told them to and the sound quality sucked, and they were left with $600 in speakers that they hated...

so do i ^^^^ if you run 8 ohm subs make sure your amp is 2 ohm stable. it will bring it down. makes more clear bass. if you run 6 ohm like jl audio thats the worst.. that means you need at least 3 subs. means you need more power. less bass. the more you can run less ohm meaning clean the more positive power driven the more boom!!!!!

Well its lookin like MB Quarts is going to be the one choice i think! and one around chicago know of a place where they have the speakers on display to hear the sound???

Why are you narrowing ur choices down to those two brands? Eclipse are known for their head units and speakers arent their expertise. MB Quarts are good but it isnt cost effective. Try lookin at the Alpine SPX-177R Type-X Series. Its definitely one of the biggest bang for your buck. I sounds as good as the Dynaudios for much less.

Shorty: front and rears will house a 6.5" speaker... You'll probably have to make a mounting bracket from MDF and a jigsaw...

If you're still iffy about the MBQ's, look at Elemental Designs eDi6500s component system.. $250 w/ free shipping and are one helluva component system!!

Id go with Diamond Audio, eD or Resonant Engineering personally, but with any higher end speakers you will need an amp to power them.

I've had speakers from all brands. Both name brand and no name brand! I have my nissan altima completely eclipsed out. From head unit to highs, mids, subs, and amps. Its the best stereo I have ever had. They are a little pricey but I think completely worth it. I'm in the process of moving all of it into my TC as we speak.
