Just ordered this, I have a not so fancy unit from the same company on my matrix. Great deal here:

http://www.beachaudio.com/Audiovox/X...source=froogle

My friend installs them for 65 bucks, killer deal if you live around Ohio.

Autopage... eitehr RS900 or RS1000.. hands down winner

then would come prestige 900mhz stuff and then viper/Clifford/DEI products...

If you are planning to do the install yourself, I heard that the Viper systems are nearly impossible to program without a shop bit writer. The guy who installs mine prefers the Prestige (Audiovox) because he can program them in his driveway.

it can be done.. its just a little more complicated than it was with the previous viper stuff...

i personally feel all the new DEI stuff has kinda gone.. well cheap... the remotes feel as though they wont last and the alarm brain and functionality is similar to the old astroflex stuff that is CRAP...

depending on the car and location... figure anywhere from 125-300... roughly... it all depends on what you want it to do, difficulty of car, and installer themselves

work at best buy and get a $500 alarm dirt cheap lol then get a buddy to put it on and pay he as oppose to paying a shop. thats wat i did.

But all jokes aside. I heard Audiopage are good. Vipers are good to but can be pricey retail. But if you know someone that can do it that helps. But they HAVE to know what they are doing cuz they can fudge stuff up. Look around depends on wat ur looking for and willing to spend

What makes or breaks an alarm is how good the install is.

Anything in the DEI family is pretty good, just check the specs to see what you need. And if you live in the city, for god sakes either don't install or turn down the shock sensor. Alarms should only go off if someone is really jacking your stuff.

Its optional. by default tC comes w/ engine immobilizer (transponder) and a panic button to make loud noises when you're scared of the teens loitering around the mall.

Spec tc has nothing.
