Default Worth it, and will it work?!

I was looking at navi units to throw in my car, and I'm thinking Pioneer might be the best brand to go with. Looking at D3's, but while on ebay I noticed a nice Z2. Wondered what people thought about that, and if it would be good for a tC, and if it would fit with the radio door?! Thanks guys.

Oh, and does anyone feel there's a big downgrade from a D3 to a D2?! Cause there are a few other deals, but I'm just cautious to get something that won't be awesome! :?

you will have to drill the mounting brackets a bit back in order for the radio door to close with the d3.

I have had mine for almost 3 years now, works great, but it I were in the market NOW i would go for something a bit newer

Thanks for the heads up! How easy is it to drill the mounting brackets back? And the Z1 is lookin pretty sweet, and it looks like I could get a great deal. Should I jump on it?

its super easy.

you take the holes that are already there, measure however much more clearance you need(say half inch), and drill a new hole in the bracket for how much clearance you measured. If you have ever use a drill before you should be able to do this, hell, even if you haven't, you should be able to do this.

this post should point you in the right direction.

If you have any questions feel free to pm me, I have installed quite a few pioneer gps headunits.

How much you lookin to get for it? Cause the units I'm lookin at on eBay are going for about $375 shipped! If you're willing to match that, I'd take yours in a heartbeat, rather help out a fellow SLer!

which AVIC D3 did you find that was $375 shipped? I see a bunch of ebay ones but they're missing parts (gps antenna, navi disk, harnesses, etc.) I'm selling mine for $480 shipped... and i couldn't find anywhere that could beat that price for a very well kept unit.

I've been keepin an eye on auctions for them, and almost every single one has ended around that, and sometimes less. And honestly, they have most, if not all, of the parts. I wasn't trying to lowball, I was just sayin. There are a few on there headed in the same price range. No biggie, I was just sharing is all. :-)

i have the d3 and i did not drill the mounting holes back, instead i gutted the cover door. when you take it appart you will see that the back has humps (plsatic humps) you can drill them out basically getting rid of the black plastic.. works like a charm
