Default wtf is wrong with my sunroof?

I think my sunroof is possessed. When I push the button to open it, most of the time I have to hold it down with some force for a couple of minutes for it to open; occasionally, a light touch is all that is needed. It closes with no issues at all. I have reset it. And a few months ago, the whole assembly; motor, rails, glass were all replaced. It worked fine for a few days then, but the problem soon returned. What's going on with this thing?

Sounds like its a problem with the actual switch itself and not the sunroof assembly.

you took out the negative and put it back in and than try to reset? after doing that close your windows down all the way and hold the buttons. after that close each one and hold up while doing it. if that doesn't work than....i dunno

The switch does seem to be the most likely culprit. Anyone know how to get it out without taking down the whole headliner?

I also have a sunroof problem. Mine is a little different then the OP's though. For mine, it opens fine. When I want to close it, if I hold the close button down then it starts closing gets almost to the end and then just re opens its self. If I keep tapping the close button it works though.

^^ same exact thing with mine.. I haven't gotten a chance to clean the track. Also it whistles on speeds 50mph + :/ if I clean the track I hope it'll fix the problem and seal correctly.

def clean out the track. our sunroofs have a safety feature that they will re-open if they encounter too much resistance. mine did the same thing and i wiped out the track and sprayed white lithium grease (doesnt attract dirt like wd-40) on all the joints and its worked fine since

A little JB Weld on top of the buttons will make better contact with the moving exterior part (in the picture, the Weld is on the two buttons that close the sunroof). I had the all too common "opens fine but wont close" issue
