Default 07 engine in a 05.. will it work...?

hey guys... i have a quick question... i hydrolocked my engine sat.. . im looking online and i can pick up a 2007 engine with 8000 miles on it for the same price of a 2006 engine with slightly more miles... my question for those in the know... will the 2007 run in a 2005.... or is there too much difference in say the computer programming and or accessories...

thanks ahead for any info......

i think you would have to replace the MAF sensor, and the ECU for the engine itself because they are considerably different.

yeah major typo. i was like 97?! haha

also, im not too sure if the headers from an 05 will fit on the 07 headers as well. i know they are visually diffrent, but im not too sure if they are diffrent as far as fitment. so if you ge the 07 engine youd have to get the headers as well.

no, the header should be fine, the exhaust is exactly the same, although the heat guard is different, and maybe it has a better catalytic convertor or something. but since all aftermarket header's fit all tc's, oem header's shouldn't be too much of a problem.

opps.. sorry for the typo...

thanks guys... i was pretty sure it was not going to work as a straight swap... you guys confirmed it...

as to how i hydrolocked it... i have a MMW intake... which i extended to the front of the car (just behind the small covered vent )... it had been raining all day saturday and i had to go thru a "new" neighborhood (in the doral area for those that live in MIA) which has crap for drainage.. on the way in i went thru some shallow lakes... but on the way out i miss calculated and went thru a lake that was alittle deeper than i thought...... and i was not going fast knowing how low my filter was...

im either going to shorten up the intake again.. or get me one of these..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AIR-F...spagenameZWDVW

or an AEM bypass... im sure one of these may have saved the engine.. ohwell.. live and learn... $10 or $50 could have saved me $2K.... i have to look at the positives... my engine had 80K miles on it... it was still strong.. but now i get to put a 12K mile engine in the car.. plus im going to put in a lighter flighwheel and new clutch...

yeah, your in florida, dude, that state is completely flat, i lived in orlando for half a year, and the puddles that formed every time it rained were crazy cause their drainage system sucks. so if i were you, get the AEM bypass valve and don't run the intake right up to the side vent, your just asking to try and do this again.

we're talking about a completely different thing man..

the engine is too different to do a straight swap... you'll need the extra wiring along with the ECU as well... and with the other ECU.. you may need to get the supporting things that have to go with it as well

(i.e. TPMS..?)

it would work, when you get engine its usually mechanical parts ur getting, Just reuse the maf sensor and any other sensors and electrical components. You might even get away with a camry engine, they just have different mounts. 2azfe
