I think the tC is gonna be a beast on the street racing scene. Give it a couple months, once some real performance parts start coming out I think we can really unleash some power from this car. And with a turbo or supercharger, I doubt theres any car in this price range, excluding an SRT-4 which has the same kind of potential. I've never run an RSX, Tiburon, or Sentra Spec V, but I suspect even the v6 Tib and Spec V would get walked, despite their superior numbers. I'm not sure what the ex factor which makes the tC superior to other cars in a similar price range, is, but it's' surely there. I think it's a combination of aggressive gearing, good torque and a good drive train which doesnt lose too much hp putting the power to the wheels.

If I miss a shift and lose, it's my own fault, and I lose a race, regarless of if my car should have beaten my opponents, if my driving sucks it won't. All I'm saying is that we had a good run from several rolls, and several digs, and he couldn't pull me. I've also raced a 190 hp Passat v6 and pulled him hard. The tC has a lot more getup than the numbers would indicate, and if driven properly we can really suprise a lot of "faster" cars. I bet that stang was ____ing his pants that a stock tC could hang with him and actually pull him.
I believe you spanked him.... .5 seconds is a joke. If you didn't take a dump that day, or had a passenger, that .5 seconds don't mean sheeeeet.

Magazines and the 'by the book' numbers are for stupid consumers that want safe conservative results to compare to other cars they are shopping against.... If magazines and car manufactures were about the truth, they would show whp and tq.

its amazing how tall 3rd is to 80mph. 2nd and 3rd gear with the H-bars, TRD springs/shocks, and TWM is fun...

american junk is for going straight. they are not for cornering performance IMHO.

Rented one, it was a PIG! I like the way the new one looks but the v6 auto is horrible performance wise. Tried to make it break free on the corners, almost impossible. It handled better than the older ones but man, how can you even make a car like that with no *****???

Tried to get a friend with a 05 auto v6 to race on video with my tc, he won't do it, LOL.

My rental:

i raced my friend's 2000 mustang GT a couple times, he easily beat my ___, but that is truly not a surprise. There is also a lexus IS300 and a Integra LS that want a piece of me, but i don't know if i should, they said they want to put money on it.

The LS is should be a win, but I dunno about the IS300, they're pretty quick.

BTW, I raced my friend with the mustang around some corners one time and almost hit him in the back becuase he had to slow down A LOT! HAHAHAHA!

exactly. I'd take a cheap car with suspension/sway bars and great cornering speed before a luxury car with straight line speed.

Both cars are dog slow.

I think an X5 3.0i and a Grand Cherokee can accelerate 0-60 in less then 8 seconds also.

Moral- Don't brag about slow cars.

i dont understand how a tc beat a mustang. i raced my friends tiburon and he beat me by half a car length. his is a v6 dual exhaust manual while mine is a automatic. what up with that? does manual make a big difference.

The IS300 is around 0.1-0.2 seconds faster than the tC in BOTH 0-60 and 1/4... it's pretty much a driver's race.

If you do race the IS300, do it on an empty tank, and even take out the spare tire if you want to.

the Integra LS shouldn't be a problem.

I had a run in with a 2005 Mustang GT about 30 mins ago actually... We were at a red light and I was in a hurry, so I gave about 50-70% Throttle off the line and kept that pace... around 50mph I see him in my side mirror and hear a downshift, so I decided what the hell, and floored it, he walked by me effortlessly. Not surprised at the outcome, I even gave him a honk and a flash of the headlights as I drove by when he slowed down to turn off.

On the tC the difference between manual and automatic is bigger than normal because the manuals are geared lower for better acceleration. The auto is geared so much higher that it is rated with better fuel economy than the manual, which is the opposite of most cars. The manual tC is more than a second faster to 60mph than the auto (7.4 sec vs. 8.5 sec.)

I got a 7.5 sec run in my AT borrowing my friend's G-tech... but who knows how accurate those are.

I can see how he would beat you, with your lackluster understanding of how cars operate.

Additionally, the Mustang GT is the v8, puts out 300 hp. I went against the standard, v6. Not suprised you got walked hard by the GT, it's a different class of automobile and costs quite a bit more.

Yes, I knew that. In no way was I comparing the tC to the Mustang GT, figured I'd just post about it anyways.

It would be retarded of me to think I could even be on the same playing field as a Mustang GT. I knew the outcome before it started.

I raced a GT in my P5 once, actualy got him on the green (probly better reaction time) than I was killed. The other night I was comeing home from work and a GT wanted to play with me from a roll. I laughed, yah from the line I had advantage for take off, but not any where a chance after that or from a roll.

Hay got a guy at work with a mid 90's GT-R Escort that been wanting to race me. Hell he wanted to race my P5 (yah a 4 door wagon with matching engin and no mods.) He has intake, exhaust (just muffler I think), no red lims.....I been tempted to do it, all I have is my CAI as for power mods and short shift to help with the changeing gears.

Mine is a 5sp and I walk away from 2004+ V6 tiburons all day long. Raced two in one night. One was auto, no prob. The 5sp was a tiddle quicker, but not much. Korean cars manufacturers are notorious for overrating their car's horsepower.

IS 300 is a good race, you can beat one with some luck and skill. Acura RSX non-S are another good race. You have a tourque advantage against an RSX. Same with the Honda civic SI, hi reving honda engine needs to be screaming to pull some tourque.

Not that I race

i raced my friends 02 si, he had CAI, dc sports race header (for the rsx type s) and header back exhaust. he beat me first, 2nd wouldn't catch (he told me that it might have been because i was trying to shift too fast. not sure how true that is). later we went from a roll and he beat me again. i'm bone stock

The tC is a cool car, and I'm sure they will become a big player in the ricer market and give a lot of domestic and imports a run for thier money, however, that mustang should haven handed your A$$ to you. Automatic or Stick, the pick up on those cars is very good, even on the V6. Handling wise the tC might have an edge, lower, lighter....but then again you are not comparing apples to apples.

Lets get real here folks, a 160 hp @ 5,700 rpm and 163 lb.-ft. @ 4,000 rpm. I mean, its a cool car, and if you like it that is all that matters. Why not go to stang dot net and create an account. Go into the V6 forums and see what they have to say about this.

Oh, and for the fool that said he dosent like fox body cars...um..dude, the new stang is not on the fox body platform.

Anyone living in the DC metro area, hit me up and bring your tC. It will be good fun. Oh, and yea....we all know on this forum that street racing is not legal. Wow, you are quite brilliant...thanks for telling us this. You must have a law degree.

Cheers!

Oh yeah?! Well I hear mustang drivers have cooties! So there!

Edit: oh and... I don't believe a stock tC is a match for a stock mustang with equal drivers. BUT, numbers aren't everything. One word -- Elise. If you don't know what that is, then go here:

http://www.lotuscars.com/

and see what an Inline-4 187 HP engine can do.
