2009 tC Oil Type?
I have had the fist one done but they say every 5k little high for me.
What type of oil does this take? I see the earlier tC's say 5-30
The book says 0-20 or 5-20
I thought 0-20 was synthetic so is this car from the factory regular or synthetic
thanks all

check the oil cap under the hood, it might say differ from the manual. at least my GF's 09 Camry did and im putting 5w20 in hers. It gets too damn hot down here and want some weight in the oil.
i change it at 3k and put castrol 5w20...the dealer that did my 3 free changes used castrol gtx 5w-20...0w-20 is syntetic?..hmm explains why i couldnt find any....i figured as much as i change mine, it'll be ok to use non synthetic and a cheap filter...
oh...and you can get the 3 free oil changes at any mileage.. i had them do mine at 3k intervals..

only 2 free oil changes on newer scions. You are suppose to use 5w-20. You can use whatever you want. It will not void your warranty. The reason 5w-20 is recommended is because it will maintain the epa rating for milage.

and 0w20 is used during winter conditions for better mileage..
yea, newer scions only get 2 free maintenance things.
5w20 is the standard for Toyota. regular non-synthetic oil.
