I just did jersey to vegas it took me and my friend 40 hrs. We would switch at every 6 to 8 hrs driving, we broke it up in 3 days. It sucks you are doing it by yourself. If I were you, I would leave early in the moring and do like 12 to 14 hrs, find a super 8 for $35 a nite sleep. Then you will be refreshed and in Miami by the evening.

Plan your drive.....estimate your stops for fuel, food, B-Room. If you are just a little tired and see a rest area, pull off, get out, walk around, P, and get back on the road. Little stops have helped me on the long drives. The caff pills....? They messed with my mind after so many. Spare $ for any toll roads. 32-64oz empty bottle for.....if you don't want to stop, and a small roll of TP if you can't make it to the next stop. CLA for your cell phone. Have people that you my call at various times (to check in for location, and help keep you alert) If you begin to drift asleep a little, crack a window (I drove from SC to PA overnight with my window and sunroof open for about 3 hrs.....it was winter) it will help. Don't load up on snacks and drinks, not having them handy will make you stop a few more times. WHEN YOU STOP STRETCH & WALK.

I did a 10 hour drive (central Alabama to central Ohio) in a toyota MR2. If you can get a CB or a walkie talkie (I had the latter), you can pick up converstations and talk to other drivers. Not that I suggest you talk while driving but it kept me up.

Wow this si awesome information. I did not think I would get so much help. Well my plan is to start driving at 5pm and do 15 hours straight till 11am when I have a place to stay at FSU. I have some friends there and I will pass out during the day at there place and then partty at FSU one night. Wake up the next day and do the last 7 hours to miami and get there early enough to miami to shower, take a nap and then go out. I will be doing this by myself and my car is gonna be packed with my crap from chicago so I won't be able to bring anyone. I am gonna do the things you guys suggested like tire pressure and others. I amgonna bring high carb food with me like sphagetti to keep me going and I will only sip the coffee and redbull (maybe rockstar) just to keep a steady flow of energy. I appreciate all your help and anymore I would appreciate it as well

This is what I did the last time I went to florida it took me 22.5 hrs I took a cell phone with a hands free kit (if your traveling alone this helps) so you'll have ppl to talk to, Pull off when you get tired or are feeling tired (staring at the same lines and road kills your eyes. You def wanna try to drive during day hours and drive as much as you can. Try to rest at night it will be easier on you. Also Leave as early as possible I left at 4 am beating most morning traffic plus driving in daylight just makes it easy when there isnt morning rush hour jams.. I cant remeber anything else but if I do I will post it up, Good luck and drive safely...
