Correct, even it it is clutchless, you're still shifting.

Mmmm....paddle shifting....nice. And yeah, even clutchless it's the same thing as a 5-speed, you have control of the car, RPMs, etc.

tell that to Ferrari drivers with the paddle shift gearbox, unless you dont classify them as a sports car.
hmmmm, with paddle shifters you're manually shifting the car... sounds like a manual to me.
Actually paddle shifting is not manually shifting, your basically manually shifting an automatic transmission.

I got an auto mainly because I don't know how to drive stick and didn't want to risk doing damage to my baby because of my ignorance. Also, I've been stuck in really nasty street and freeway gridlock here in L.A. But next car I get, I'm thinking will be MT, I really like driving and like the idea of more control over the car. It's also too bad you can't get any upgrades for an AT that you can get for MT (unless I am mistaken? PLEASE tell me i am mistaken!!

but there is no torque converter.. so technically it's not automatic.

hm...

i actually like the toyota auto gearbox. it's got those notches and you can kick it down to 3rd and 2nd and L.

and who says you can't spin the wheels in an auto?

i can peel out in a full(filled with people) SIENNA.. and there's no 5spd Sienna.

i don't agree with "manual is more fun" of course it's more involving. of course it gives you better feel. but being an auto driver...with careful, sensitive footwork, you can have plenty fun with an auto--especially with an auto that's spec'd to rev higher. it's a camry engine...but the trans is programmed a bit more aggressively so it shifts at higher RPMs.

I said "You can't spin the tires all the way through 3rd gear in an automatic"

B/C you can't, you'll spin the tires like a 5-speed spins them in first, then your automatic will compensate for the high RPMs and shift. In a 5-speed tC we can spin the tires shifting through 1st--2nd--and continue to spin them in 3rd.

Oh yeah...

Don't brag about being a bad ___ while driving a Minivan. I don't care if you can spin the tires, you're not cool driving a Minivan.
