5speed: Grinding at startup
Sometimes when I start my car with the clutch in and in neutral I get a grinding sound like it is in a gear..... It doesn't happen every time, but want to know what it is before I actually do some damage. Anybody else with a 5speed have this problem/noise? Maybe it's nothing, I don't know....... Thanks for any help.
i think i know what youre talking about, sometimes my engine starts up weird. Sometimes it starts up and feels/sounds like its going to die and the engine revs itself up to 3k and goes back down. Then another time it just makes weird start up noises like you described. I found out that i had to use more force while stepping on the clutch. The button on the back of the pedal is not being depressed enough, i think because of my mats.

^idriveatC is right; check your floor mats's clearance under the pedal; ive got rubber mats that are thinner than the stock carpet ones, but if the mat even gets an edge under the area the pedal would land; i get a slight grind
