To start, I have read The "I AM GETTING / HAVE A NEW tC!!" Thread, and understand that said thread is used for people that claim to be getting a new TC, or just got a new TC, and hopefully my expectations and intentions for my following thread, does in fact have the rights for it's own space.

Anyway, Here I am, someone brand new to the whole Scionlife world, in all honesty, someone soon-to-be brand new to the whole Scion world itself.

I am making this topic today, to introduce myself to this community which looks promising, as well as ask a broad question, I know you all can answer me with much detail!

Name: Joey (Vibe)
Age: 18
Location: Florida
Occupation: Executive Head of VIP Productions & Online Activity for Committee Entertainment ( Founders of Dayglow if anyone is familiar with the event )

~~~~~
So on-to business, I recently have retired my first vehicle, which I loved, a 2009, Saab, Turbo X, car was a beast, had stance, had *****, everything, it even had the consistency of a plastic cup when it crushed upon rolling down a ditch in the backwoods of Clermont Florida.
I myself now settling in @ FAU ( Florida Atlantic University ), have been using my father's vehicle, as he purchased a new one, but lately, with the new release of this second generation tC, and my friends\co-workers, that already have first generation tC's, I am now hooked. Although I am leaning toward the 1G.
I love the outlook, build, specs, and possibilities that come with the tC, however, my personal experiences and knowledge of the tC, does not include whatsoever after-market or upgrades at all. This is why I am coming to Scionlife today, I would like inside information, Real people, telling me real idea's, opinion's.
For an 18/19 year-old, freshmen in college, would it be possible, to not go crazy with money, and purchase a 1G tC, and build it up, engine external wise, as well as exterior upgrades? How much would it cost? What should I expect when it comes to 1G tC building? Is it going to require me to have an outstanding knowledge on mechanics?
I appreciate the time, if anyone reads my large introduction, and I hope that I can be welcomed and helped here at Scionlife. It seems like an awesome community, and I look forward to being apart of it!
Modding your car and how much is spent is completely based off of what you want to do... You can do everything yourself by following DIY's and cut cost down there. You can buy used parts off of here and cut costs down as well... There are too many factors that decide how much it is going to cost you... Look around and check things out
Any car you want to mod is going to be a money pit. It just depends on how much work you put in it on your own to save cost and how much you're wanting to do.
I understand where you're coming from, although I mean the basic aftermarket upgrades, something most have, I guess I am being too generic when asking the cost, but just an estimation, in terms of the first few upgrades, to at-least make your tC look like it has some stance. CF Parts, Body Kits, Lights, Etc..
I agree, in all, again, just hoping for estimations.
As far as I can think:
Injen CAI at the unbelievable-I-was-such-a-noob-to-buy-full-price $300
Tsudo Exhaust: $175
Raceland Coils: $300
Raceland Strut Tower Bar: $30
Alignment (because of coils) : $90
Rims/Tires: $1000 (plus mounting)
Random (shift *****, paint from 3 interior paint changes, Paint for stock rims, exhaust hangers, and all those other random stupid things I buy to fix the car): $200
Something I bought from Davedavetc: ~$200
Tools (had most of them already): $50
Total: ~$2345 and counting. I plan on spending probably another $2000 at least for a lip kit, coils, tires, etc.
I've spend nearly 7k on wheels and tires alone. Oh god!
This last set I ordered will be my last set... for a while.
^And honestly, that's not a whole lot. Not when you're getting into high end. Some guys on wfc spend upwards of 7k on one set alone of rims.
Oh I am. Just waiting on a bonus from the military to put towards a 240. But in the aftermath of this govt shutdown/budget cluster____, I'm not getting paid from the govt. I just want new coils that will last. RL's work, but arent at the comfort level I'd like. Too bouncy.
I'm starting to see, well, regardless I'm going to be building this car out of passion and dream, so money isn't an issue, only a temporary limit.
I appreciate all the answers and replies. It seems this community is awesome.
this is pretty close to where i'm at. add a lip and roof spoiler, a ____ ton of LEDs, sway and strut bars, and more I can't remember. Ive prolly put 2-3k in mine as a college student. You have to be prepared to eat cheap if this is really what you want. tacobell is your friend when you spend so much on a car.
