AC question: effects of different settings on milage?

I haven't even noticed a decrease in mileage by running my AC at all. Yesterday my outside temp. read 124 degrees.

you def want to be recirculating the AC'd air. Otherwise you are defeating the purpose of keeping the cabin cool by introducing outside air. I have noticed that I get way worse gas mileage wit the AC on, sometimes up to 30 mile per tank. I know it has to do with conditions and driving style but I'm sure it has played some role.

Getting a bit off topic, When u guys have the AC on does the engine tick a little louder?

Umm it does get a little louder..only because it increases the idiling to compensate for the A/C Unit being on. That and the constant A/C Radiator fan turning on and off. Other then that...the car is fine, there is no abnormal ticking noise or anything of the sort.
