Default Airbag Warning Light CEL

Not that I would ever think about doing this but If you removed your airbags and removed the LED behind the airbag warning light. Would they still be able to tell when the scan the car for inspection?

I don't think the airbag light matters.

Mine has been on since I installed my seats and they never said anything about it when I got it inspected not long afterward.

No, I mean when I got my car inspected for it's annual inspection (that happened to be after I installed new seats). Didn't have to get the seats inspected for anything.

i'd have to guess no. as the airbag warning light is there to warn the driver who would be unaware of the problem otherwise, so even with the LED removed, the moment somebody plugs into the OBDII port, there would still be a trouble code communicated to the scanning device.

I would think you would still be able to see it thru a scan as well....And NYS is a pita with inspections

I've lived in NY for the last 6 yrs and never have had a problem with inspection. Even with my airbag light on. Even at the dealer.

Airbag light is a "body code" and a standard scanner will not read or clear it. It requires a special scanner either the dealer has - or in most cases - most body shops.

I hope your right! Not that I dont believe you....It DOES state that the Airbag light is not a point of rejection for inspection.

well, if the air bag light is a point of rejection, just like a CEL is, then they probably have a device that can read both as you could also disable the CEL light too.

That icon is from the "old" profile - which I've removed. My tC is in my Garage here.

Most states do not count the Airbag code as a fail on OBDII.......they area looking for engine and exhaust issues that code right up when they hook up and that is what fails you......question is why remove your airbags, going aftermarket seats and steering wheel,if so there is way around the seats using a resistor, and the air bags in steering wheel, although no one has tried has resistance too that can be measured and I am sure a resistor in its wireing will cancel it out as well.......

we just need a junked car to test on.
