Default alarm installed yesterday, stopped working today...

got my alarm installed yesterday. it stopped working today and now im getting a new(same model) alarm installed tomorrow.
i know the installer was good because i know him and i know how thorough he is. the alarm worked fine all yesterday and this morning. then today he put a diode somewhere so that the pager (lcd screen tells whats going on with the car) knows what door is open. worked fine when we tested it at the shop. i drive home, turn off the ignition and doors don't unlock(they are supposed to when the key is at the "off" position). i get out, shut the door, hit the arm button on the pager... nothing. the pager says my CLOSED driver side door is OPEN. the blinking LCD inside the car stopped blinking and the pager that contacts the alarm which then talks back to the pager no longer contacts the alarm and i have to manually lock the doors.

now, i know what he did may cause the car to think my door is open, but the scion key will lock the doors so i know its not that, also, when the alarm pager contacts the car it beeps back 1 time after a second to confirm a successful arm/disarm. if the pager is unsuccessful in reaching the car it will beep 3 times. i get no beeps.

note: here's a fun fact... i was using the valet key because the other key wont disarm the alarm and my spare key was in my center console. i hit the lock switch on my door and shut it after the pager didnt work. another fun fact: i recently installed delta's key hole plugs... ... and i glued them in with high bond silicone automotive adhesive. good thing i used the expensive, no bull-$hit adhesive because i couldnt get the bastard out; driver or passenger. 2 broken razorblades later, in a raging haste, i took hammer and chisel to my wonderful keyhole plugs. now i am down 1 alarm, 2 razorblades, and 1 keyhole plug. damn, it feels good to get that out.

sorry for the long rant but its been festering all day.

has anyone else had trouble with Autopage alarms before? or have another brand to
recommend? i am sure a handfull of you guys and girls have installed or install alarms as a job and are pretty knowledgeable on the topic. thanks.

i would recommend scion security but if you have to go aftermarket, viper is the way to go.
it sounded like your alarm was malfunctioning, see what happens when you get the new unit.

nope, no subs.

he figured out what was wrong with it. the thing that held a fuse for the alarm was loose and the connection was bad. he fixed it and replaced the entire alarm anyway. works great now. he checked and double checked every connection to be positive.
