Default All The Issues

I just have some general comments to make and reccomendations regarding the issues people report on here. I think it is great to share ones issues with our cars, that is part of what these posts are for. But there are some things to keep in mind. It seems that it is very easy to get a panic started when people hear of an issue with someone elses car. We need to remember that there are over 16,000 members of ScionLife, meaning that some of these complaints are very possibly isolated to a few cars (maybe not always the case, but something to note). So we are bound to hear a few complaints. These should be shared and noted, but should not be assumed to be company wide issues. All production runs have some bad apples, and we should keep this in mind. Also, we need to remember that we are on the internet, meaning you should take much of what you hear with a grain of salt. This does not mean that we should blame the user for everything, but simply look at it logically and watch for reocuurences of these issues other places.

The last thing I would like to point out is the way in which issues are handled. As irritating as it is to have an issue with a new vehicle, there are right and wrong ways of handling it. Angry and rude letters to scion customer care will not do anything for us. They are most likely viewed and regarded as immature complaining by some kid. Right or wrong, that is what happens. We have a good tool here for gathering info from many customers and using it to our advantage. A very good approach IMO when many people have the same complaint, such as the hatch rattle that many speak of, is to compile your data, share the last portion of your VIN numbers (this gives a range of production times that may correlate with the issue) and then send all the data you can in a professional looking letter to Scion as well as to your individual dealerships. This will spark more respect from the people looking into the issues, as well as show that you are serious and have taken the time to investigate further. The main thing is to appear as professional as possible when sending your complaints. I know how hard it is, trust me. I have dealt with some crappy companies in the past and it is very difficult to hold your temper. But I can assure you that professionalism (even if it is not deserved) will get you a million times further than anger when it comes to these things.

Ok, there have been many posts that I wanted to say all of this to, and have said some of it a couple of times, but I thought I would just put it out there. Now its beer time

I am just trying to reduce the "oh my god! the scion line has an issue!" stuff when one or two people out of 16,000 post a complaint. Second, I am trying to pass along some advice on getting Scion to take these issues more seriously when they are reported. I have worked in both engineering as well as application developement/support/project analyst areas and can tell you from experience that a mature, professional sounding complaint will get more attention and get resolved much faster. I also have some idea of the info needed to properly investigate a complaint. That is part of what I explained above. I have no issues with my tC. I am just trying to give everyone that does have them some ideas of how to handle them.
