Even higlighted in bold: dealer-installed supercharger is available
Like it's available now or something. Anyone know when it is officially available?

"The [Volvo] S40/V50 is available in two trims: 2.4i and T5. The T5 features the turbocharged 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine that produces 218 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque at a low 1500 rpm while the 2.4i gets a normally aspirated 168-horsepower 5-cylinder engine."

218 horses and 236 pound feet at 1500 RPM??

Don't turbos usually lack boost in the lows and mids, but have a strong top end?

That's a typo or something. It's 218hp@5000rpm and 236lb-ft@4800rpm.

according to Volvo of North America that figure is correct...torque is available from 1500 rpm all the way to 4800rpm.

Not if it's a reeeeeeeeealy small turbo. Big turbos have lots of lag because they take a while to spool up. A small turbo can spool relatively quickly.
