I know I should have gotten the manual, but here in Montana, you can't be really picky. I hate that when it is cold, it won't shift into 4th gear till it warms up a little. that is my only complaint...otherwise there isnt a better value on the market.
Couldn't you have ordered a manual tranny if you wanted one? Sure you would have had to wait more and not gotten a RS2, but nevertheless, you could have gotten one.
All cars have to warm up. You should take it easy on the car until it warms up. But definitely in Montana, you should switch over to a lighter weight oil for cold weather starting. They now say that ALL 06 tCs should take 5w-20, but if I were you, knowing how cold montana gets and how it doesnt get extremely hot in the summer, i'd even consider using 0w-20 (which toyota says is optional, i'd think you qualify). At least 5w-20 though!

5w-20 is a lighter weight oil which means that its better for cooler temperatures. 5w-30 is better for hotter temperatures. If I lived in florida, i'd even consider 10w-30. The numbers indicate how much of each oil is blended. In 10w-30, 10 weight, 15 weight, 20, 25, and 30 are all blended together. In 5w-20, 25 and 30 weight oils are left out, so more of the lighter weight oils are used.
Heavier oil protects the engine at real high temperatures. Since the tC redlines at 6250 (in an 06), it is not a high reving engine and does not get as hot as lets say a honda s2000 where the redline is like 9K or something. lighter weight oils are better for cold starting and for gas mileage. In montana, you'd want that cold weather protection. If you used something like 15w-50 or something ridiculous like that in alaska, the oil would be jelly! If you used 0w-10 or something like that (if its made) in africa, your oil would be boiling and ridiculously thin! I couldn't imagine that! lol
