Default Buying a tC Soon.. Some questions.

Hello, My name is Tim and Im new around here. I currently have a 1993 Dodge Stealth that I converted to Twin Turbo with upgraded turbos, stand alone engine management and a bunch of other goodies. Im selling the stealth to get the Scion TC. Main reason I am selling the stealth is to pay off some debt and have a brand new car. I've invested over $35k into the stealth and I just feel it's time to move on. Im selling it cheap to get rid of it. 15kO.B.O.

Ok, now for the scion questions.

When I went to the dealer awhile back to drive one (A white 5 speed). I asked what other colors were available. I hinted I liked the NB color and the lady said it would take 4-8 weeks to recieve the car and I'd have to put a $2500.00 down payment on it before they would order it with the options I wanted. Does this sound right?

Im in a debate on color to choose because I like the silver, Flint Mica, Black, white and blue. I am leaning towards more Flint Mica though. I need to see some pics of FM color with carbon fiber on it because I am going all out carbon fiber. CF hood, Eyelids, Mirrors,Decklid,Gaslid etc...

Any other main information I should know before purchasing one of these puppies? I have done a good bit of research so I may have answered everything myself but if you think of something that came up when you bought yours, please feel free to help me out and let me know.

I had a choice between black and NB, I got the NB and love it. that $2500 down is a crock of ____t, I paid a $500 deposit and got my car in 2 weeks. not sure of any other info, if you really researched, I knew what I was getting into and luckily i had a very good dealer experience, no haggling, no pressuring, and pretty straight forward paper work.

I don't think $2500 is right, I put $250 down for my dealer to order my SW 5 spd. The wait is about right, I've been waiting since Aug. 23 for mine to come in, Its just coming in on Thursday then has to be shipped to my dealer.
Maybe someone else can help on this issue about the $2500 but that doesnt seem right. Thats too much to put down to just order one for you.

called the dealer to verify, they still are set on that $2500.00 before they order anything... Seems high.

Not to say that this is the reason, but if your financing with the dealership and the only way to get you financed is with $2,500 down than it makes perfect sense. They want to be sure you can buy the car before they bring it in.

they tried to pull that ____ with me at my first scion dealership i went to before the tC made its debut in summer 04. after expressing my displeasure in doing business with them i got my deposit back. i put down a $250 order deposit and then on top of that they wanted 2 grand more. I was like wait a minute this doesnt sound right. I even told a scion rep on the phone about it. I took my business across town in las vegas to another scion dealership. Put a 300 dollar deposit to order it and then i added 1500 on top of that the day it arrived to make it around a 10% down payment of $1800. It doesnt take money to order tC's, it just takes a deposit to hold one in your name, that 2500 is steep, and you should talk to the manager of the dealership and threaten to report this to scion headquarters. good luck.

2500$ is garbage. Go to another dealer.

I put down 500$ and got my car in 10 days. Do you want airbags? That might be the reason for the longer wait.
