Pontiac's notorious for putting together sport packages and not promoting them, hence the GTP, GXP and SCT lines over that past decade.
The SC/T was purely an appearance package. Found a couple of sites with info. If it was more powerful, it would have been minor due to the different hood with the intakes.

The SC/T Special Edition is offered on the GT1 with composite hood, rear aero wing, Chrome Tech wheels, XM Satellite Radio, leather-appointed seats with SC/T embroidered on seatbacks, SC/T emblem, and chrome exhaust tip.

Grand Am SC/T Package as shown: $23,550 before incentives
SC/T Package includes:
• Composite Performance Hood
• Aero Wing Spoiler
• Available on Sedan and Coupe
But, no matter what the deal.....since this isn't really the point of the thread to pick apart the GA SC/T....I think you will be happy with the tC as long as you fit comfortably in there.

I have 41K miles and no major problems here, I drive allot between CA and AZ without anyproblems as well. Any prob. that I had in the past the dealer took cared of it. I love my car and I am having lots of fun in it, with a couple of mods hitting 100 plus is very easy, the rest everybody else has covered pritty well, good luck.
Awesome car for the price. One concern about your questions though......I am 6'1", 185 pounds and the car fits me pretty snug. headroom is just sufficient for me and legroom is barely adequate. Of course, these issues will be addressed once you drive the tc for yourself, but I'm just letting you know. Other than that, the car is a great value. I also have a few rattles, but I've learned to live with that.
Well, I drove it last night, in the pouring rain. To be fair I'm going to have to go drive it again on Saturday. The car seemed very jumpy and touchy with the gas pedal. It's probably just me though, I've been driving a 92 Camry for they past two weeks and it is sloooooooooooooow.
I found the interior very beautiful and roomy. I had comfortable headspace, but legspace is tight. We'll see how I feel on Saturday, right now I'm 50/50.

Yeah... i couldn't find anything on the GrandAm running anything faster than about 16.0
I dont know if you've ever run the quarter in your old Grandam, but unless you've got a GTP, the tC is probably faster, if not just as fast.

just my two cents here
love the 06, it always has more to give, its a loving car, and will please you no matter what, um i have aftermarket parts and pretty much since day one ive had aftermarket parts so um you cant really ask me about stock how it picks up or anything but ill tell you now i doubt you wont be pleased
my 06 doesnt have rattles, but i also took out my backseats and im constructing some stuff and whatnot for that, i have a few rattles every once in a while, but i think thats from my two p3s that were in the trunk at one point in time, because they make every car have its rattles lol
enjoy the car , you cant expect more under the 20k range

The GA itself isn't the fastest if you run it down the 1/4, but on the street it feels so fast because of the power band of the V6. It is a very drivable car just like the tC due to having a broad power band. Many cars are faster in the 1/4, but aren't as drivable due to having to drive the crap out of it all the time to get into the power band.
Hey illpacino...I see you're from hershey. I'm in camp Hill
if you'd like to check out my tC and discuss the car and see for yourself, i'd be more then happy to help out.
I have close to 11,000 on mine and no issues thus far.

Just a comment about being tall in a tC -- you need to lean the seat back, push it all the way down, etc., and you will have no trouble fitting in it comfortably, unless you are tall AND big (I have a friend who is 6'5" and around 385 pounds, and he doesn't fit for ____). I'm tall myself, and I usually have the biggest issues with knee room (fitting knees under steering wheel.) Although the interior dimensions are not rated that great, you can set the seat up perfectly if your arms are long enough. I have trouble seeing how people who are 5' 9" are hitting the sunroof unless they have the seat all the way up or something. The sunroof shade will probably have to be open or you will rub your head against it, but that's no big deal. That's one of the main reasons I got this car...Rear seat, of course, is for girls and children.
This car is awesome. There is no comparison for the price.

Well everyone, I test drove the tC again this past Saturday. It was a perfect day for test driving. There wasn't a lot of traffic, clear skies, kinda warm for central PA at the end of November. All quite different from the rainy night I had first driven it on.
Well, long story short, I fell in love with the car. Here's the even bigger kicker: I brought my wife with me this time, as she tends to make the more practical decisions in our relationship, and she also took it for a drive. She's been driving a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee for 5 yrs now, and has kissed it goodbye.
That's right, not only did I get a tC, so did she. Within the next week there'll be a 06 Black Pearl tC and an 06 Flint Mica tC sitting out front of our home. The dealer was blown away when I told him "We're going to need two of these".
Pictures to follow.
