Default Changing tC Antenna

Ok i was checking out some sites, and i asked a guy that was selling Short antenna's about how hard it would be to install a shorter antenna. Ok he told me that all you do is unscrew the old one, and screw in the new one. Is taht all there is to it? if so, couldn't anyone just unscrew the new one and 'jack' it? do i need some sort of special mount? ok just want to clarify it before buying it.

Also, what size to you think would look cool for the antenna? he has 1.2 inches, 2 inches and 3.5 inches.

Ok thanks for the reply

I do not know about other antennas but the Scion TC antenna unscrews right off.

I'm thinking I'm just going to take that baby off for good. I'll put a chrome screw in there or something. I never use the damn thing, that's what mp3s are for.

I like my antenna....I don't think it looks that bad either.

Without it, I wouldn't be able to listen to Howard Stern or Drew & Mike

MP3's can only go so far.....

Antenna is one of the 3 things off my Matrix that I'll be putting on the tC before leaving the dealership. Together with TRD drop-in filter and a nice shiny billet oil cap

when i went to the dealer to look at the tC i didnt really analyze the antenna... it looks as though a smaller one would look better but its all preference. I would like a small antenna like that of the BMW's on the center top of the car...

Agh! NO! Stubby little antennas smack dab in the middle of your roof are hideous. Totally ruined the cooper convertable which would have been a classy looking car. Instead it looks like that little acid trip alien from the flintstones:

do you think they weld antennas on or something? most just screw in. it's only a pice of metal, not much street value since nobody likes them anyway

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't the tC's antenna on the side and NOT on the roof haha. I went to importdaze and i saw a silver tC with the smaller antenna, and i liked it, but i didn't see anyone around it that knew about it.

But yah, so the antenna can be removed by JUST unscrewing it right? :?

Any reception difference from the stock antenna and the S2K one on the tC? I wanna know if it's a big change or something unnoticeable...

Default Is300

My friend's IS300 came with the exact same antenna that the TC comes with. He eventually bought a S2K antenna. And yes, it screws off very easily- my friend's antenna was jacked before he got the s2k antenna.

Original S2K antenna will have good reception - all these "billet TT style" ebay antennas don't work right - you lose half of your FM stations, so stick with the real antenna - the S2K one. There is a guy on newcelica.org that sells them for less than $15 shipped I think.

Not after Stern's contract is up in 2006! Then, you won't even be able to get him with the XM upgrade for the tC radio. Only Sirius! So much for you antenae then!
